October 15 is the anniversary of Teresa of Avila (1515–1582), the great Spanish saint and mystic. Igino Giordani, politician, author and hagiographer, wrote of her in 1962: she “was a courageous astronaut of the divine, as well as also a practical woman who knew about the world.”
