Refugees  displaced by the Syrian crisis are arriving in Ireland arriving in Ireland… Are we prepared to welcome them?

An orientation evening on Syrian Culture on Friday, 30th October, at Focolare Centre Curryhills. Mr. Abad Aldakar, a Syrian born Community Development Officer, shared history and insights on Syrian culture.

A  comment from participants:

“Thanks for organising such a worthwhile and informative evening last Friday. I learned a lot about the roots of the refugee crisis and the war in Syria. The way the speaker debunked myths and spoke about fears was really good. I have already found myself passing on some of what he said to colleagues and family. Apart from informing ourselves a big part of what we can do is to pave the way and create more tolerance-as the Word Of Life for November says –  before every action to ask if we are building unity. And even though we would  like to do more practically this is no small thing!”
