                    Clarté - artists in dialogue

“Art means the ability to transfuse into a painting,
into a sculpture, into a building, into a piece of music,
... a part of what never dies in the soul.”
Chiara Lubich

These are artists from all over the world who together search for a meaning for their works and who express their need to develop a way of thinking – a cultural elaboration - from the dialogue of life that springs forth from the spirituality of unity. They are represented by an international committee for art, which has its seat in Grottaferrata (Rome). In the year 2005 musicians of various musical genres gave rise to ‘One–Beat’, whereby they started a work of exploration on musical aesthetics and practice.

Objective

Clarté consults and encourages artists to dream of an art that discovers its social vocation, that can be really “popular”, that can be a moment of elevation for many, an art which can be a real recreation for those who approach it, which can dilate the soul towards the mystery of beauty, which can stimulate thought and prophecy, which can contribute towards the great challenge of our future: the unity of all people and cultures.

Initiatives

Clarté arose following an International Convention about “God as Beauty and the Focolare Movement”, held at the Mariapolis Centre in Catelgandolfo in the 1999. In 2002, the first two “convention – schools” promoted by Clarté, about the relationship between artistic work and the spirituality of unity, took place in Trent and Palermo.  These were then followed by annual conventions about the artistic vocation organised for youth coming from various countries.
