Ecumenism Metro Chicago Prayer for Christian Unity

Members of the Chicago Focolare community participated in the annual Prayer for Christian Unity event organized by Ecumenism Metro Chicago. Nine christian churches were represented in the ecumenical prayer service.

This year’s event was held on Sunday, May 22, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Glen Ellyn beginning with a reception and community gathering.

The homilist for the service was Rev. Dr. Larry L. Greenfield, Executive Minister of the American Baptist Churches of Metro Chicago, the Theologian-in-Residence for the Community Renewal Society and the new Executive Director of the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions. The Very Rev. Thomas A. Baima, Vicar for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the Archdiocese of Chicago, joined local Christian bishops and judicatory leaders in offering prayers for the unity of Christ’s Church.

Ecumenism Metro Chicago is comprised of twenty churches representing the major churches in the Chicago area, as well as the Greater Chicago Broadcast Ministries and ACT3 Network (Advancing the Christian Tradition in the Third Millennium).
