{"id":290716,"date":"2003-11-15T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2003-11-15T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/living-with-hope-in-a-risky-global-society\/"},"modified":"2024-05-13T20:36:32","modified_gmt":"2024-05-13T18:36:32","slug":"living-with-hope-in-a-risky-global-society","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/living-with-hope-in-a-risky-global-society\/","title":{"rendered":"Living with hope in a risky global society"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"Testi\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/10.0.0.128\/2010focolare\/layout\/foto2003\/20030908a.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"Right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"8\" \/>Every year, the Italian Christian Laborers Associations, a union of Italian Catholic associations operating in the social sector, organizes a national convention with the objective of tackling the cultural, economic, and political challenges of the present world, and providing Catholics with answers to specific issues.<\/span>  This year\u2019s appointment was entitled: <em>\u201cLiving with hope in a risky global society.\u201d<\/em> Held in Orvieto, Italy, from September 5-7, the convention gathered 400 representatives of the world of culture and international politics.  Stating his motives for inviting Chiara Lubich, Luigi Bobba, ACLI president remarked: <em>\u201cWhen it comes to hope it\u2019s impossible not to think of Chiara, a woman who personifies the virtue of hope.\u201d<\/em>  In her message Chiara said among other things, <em>\u201cThe paradigm of unity, when put into action, proves to be an enormous resource for the ongoing trend of globalization, since it contains the seed which can make all forms of integration among peoples possible and offers the method for achieving it, namely mutual love.(&#8230;)  \u201cAs a consequence the need will be felt to put the goods of creation\u2014God\u2019s gift to all\u2014at the service of all peoples. The underdevelopment of some nations and the overdevelopment of others will find its proper balance.
