{"id":292234,"date":"2011-03-23T07:45:06","date_gmt":"2011-03-23T06:45:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/paris-the-court-of-the-gentiles-is-launched\/"},"modified":"2024-05-13T20:42:01","modified_gmt":"2024-05-13T18:42:01","slug":"paris-the-court-of-the-gentiles-is-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/paris-the-court-of-the-gentiles-is-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"Paris: \u201cThe Court of the Gentiles\u201d is launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Franz Kronreif and Claretta Dal R\u00ec are in Paris representing the Focolare Movement a week before another much awaited event: \u201c<strong>Humanism, dialogue, fraternity<\/strong>&#8211; Chiara Lubich\u2019s legacy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Sorbonne University, the Academie Fran\u00e7aise and UNESCO are hosts of the international convention that <strong>officially inaugurates \u201cThe Court of the Gentiles\u201d<\/strong>. The idea for this permanent centre for exchange between members of the world\u2019s religions and those with no religious affiliation came directly from Benedict XVI.<\/p>\n<p>Dialogue between believers and non-believers was launched by the Vatican within the Pontifical Council for Culture.<\/p>\n<p>The centre\u2019s name took it\u2019s inspiration from the space in the ancient Temple of Jerusalem where non-Jews, members of other religions and agnostics gathered.<\/p>\n<p>The new centre is already up and running and has had its first meeting organised by the University of Bologna for dialogue among lay people. The \u201cCourt of Gentiles\u201d is not a place for institutional debates, nor is it an attempt to create a common doctrine: it\u2019s a space for dialogue.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-29490\" style=\"margin-right: 10px;border: 0pt\" src=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/20110323-02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"154\" height=\"200\" \/>Paris, emblem of secularisation, hosts the event. This new Vatican initiative aims at fostering an open exchange between believers and non-believers on issues relating to faith. \u201c<em>Dialogue implies exchange on rigorous issues; it must respect identity and avoid syncretism and vague corcordisms<\/em>\u201d, <strong>Mons. Gianfranco Ravasi<\/strong>, president of the Pontifical Council for Culture, explains.<\/p>\n<p>Many well-known intellectuals and public figures have already shown support for this project characterised by respect, openness to everyone and a spirit of full freedom.\u00a0 Representing the Focolare for the inauguration in Paris are Claretta Dal R\u00ec and Franz Kronreif, directors at the Movement\u2019s international centre for dialogue with people of no religious affiliation.<\/p>\n<p>This Parisian event takes place in the midst of preparations for another important meeting for believers and non-believers united by the ideal of universal brotherhood: \u201c<strong>Humanism, dialogue, fraternity<\/strong>&#8211; Chiara Lubich\u2019s legacy\u201d will take place in Castel Gandolfo from 1<sup>st<\/sup>&#8211; 3<sup>rd<\/sup> April with international participation.<\/p>\n<p>For further information: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.incamminodialogando.blogspot.com\/\">www.incamminodialogando.blogspot.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/incamminodialogando.blogspot.com\/2011\/03\/evitare-il-fondamentalismo-e-il.html\">http:\/\/incamminodialogando.blogspot.com\/2011\/03\/evitare-il-fondamentalismo-e-il.html<\/a><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A space for dialogue with people of no religious affiliation.
