{"id":306496,"date":"2018-09-19T08:26:05","date_gmt":"2018-09-19T06:26:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/peace-agreement-between-ethiopia-and-eritrea\/"},"modified":"2024-05-15T20:38:09","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T18:38:09","slug":"peace-agreement-between-ethiopia-and-eritrea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/peace-agreement-between-ethiopia-and-eritrea\/","title":{"rendered":"Peace agreement between  Ethiopia and Eritrea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Following a decision made last July, on 6 September, <\/strong>the Eritrean <strong>President Isaias Afewerki<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and Ethiopian<strong>\u00a0Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed Ali, signed a peace agreement called \u00a0the <\/strong>\u201cGedda Pact.\u201d The agreement which came about under the mediation of Saudi Arabia, the United Nations, the African Union and the United Arab Emirates, puts an end to a state of war between the two nations which continued also after the end of the conflict which lasted from 1998 to 2000 for territorial issues.
