{"id":326888,"date":"2014-12-15T17:12:37","date_gmt":"2014-12-15T16:12:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/a-peace-garden-for-the-city-of-trieste\/"},"modified":"2024-05-16T14:58:51","modified_gmt":"2024-05-16T12:58:51","slug":"a-peace-garden-for-the-city-of-trieste","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/a-peace-garden-for-the-city-of-trieste\/","title":{"rendered":"A Peace Garden for the City of Trieste"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Dado_della_Pace_Trieste_03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-116214\" src=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Dado_della_Pace_Trieste_03.jpg\" alt=\"Dado_della_Pace_Trieste_03\" width=\"210\" height=\"290\" \/><\/a>\u201cLet this cube be the sign that reminds us that peace is a precious possession, to be cultivated always, <\/strong>with the commitment of everyone.\u201d These were the words of the Deputy Mayor of Trieste, Fabiana Martini, during the inauguration of the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/news\/2014\/10\/27\/ungheria-un-dado-per-i-futuri-cittadini\/\">Cube of Peace<\/a>\u201d garden on November 21, 2014.  <strong>The steel frame and polycarbonate structure, 60 cm per side, is located in the <em>Muzio de Tommasini <\/em>Public Garden. <\/strong>Each of the six sides has a motto: <em>We help each other; Forgive others; Be the first to love; Listen to others; Share with others; and Welcome everyone.\u201d<\/em>  <strong>Promoted by the Town of Trieste and built by the Focolare\u2019s\u00a0<span id=\"result_box\" class=\"short_text\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">Action for a<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">United World<\/span><\/span> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amu-it.eu\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMU<\/a>) <\/strong>on the hundredth anniversary of World War I, the initiative resulted from a project already launched in other Italian cities such as Trent and Rovigo, but also in more distant lands like Hungary and Pakistan.  <strong>The aim is to foster peace education, <\/strong>engaging children and teenagers, but also schools, educators, families and adults of all ages who wish to be involved in this important and timely effort.  <strong>The crowded ceremony<\/strong> was conducted by Roberto Mosca from the United World Project, and enlivened by music and songs from many children, teenagers and young people. Students from every class level and type of school also contributed, along with Municipal Councillors of Public Works, Andrea Dapretto, and Education Councillor Antonella Grim, who stressed the viability of the project, as well as the significance and value of building true relations of peace.  <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Dado_della_Pace_Trieste_02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-116213\" src=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Dado_della_Pace_Trieste_02.jpg\" alt=\"Dado_della_Pace_Trieste_02\" width=\"350\" height=\"233\" \/><\/a>Whoever passes by the \u201cpeace garden\u201d with the \u201ccube of peace\u201d at its centre, <\/strong>will be able to almost playfully, spin the cube and begin to build a personal but very important journey of peace.  This educational toy was inspired by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/news\/2013\/04\/12\/percorsi-di-unita-larte-di-amare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Art of Loving<\/a> proposed by foundress of the Focolare Movement, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/chiara-lubich\/chi-e-chiara\/\">Chiara Lubich<\/a>, and it aims at putting into practice the phrase from one of its six sides that comes up with each day\u2019s spin.
