{"id":327894,"date":"2016-01-08T07:22:49","date_gmt":"2016-01-08T06:22:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/week-of-prayer-for-christian-unity-2016\/"},"modified":"2024-05-16T15:02:37","modified_gmt":"2024-05-16T13:02:37","slug":"week-of-prayer-for-christian-unity-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/week-of-prayer-for-christian-unity-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The traditional date for the celebration of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in the northern hemisphere is from January 18<sup>th<\/sup> to 25<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/strong> In the southern hemisphere, where January is during the summer holidays, the churches celebrate the Week of Prayer on other dates, for example during the time of Pentecost.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/roman_curia\/pontifical_councils\/chrstuni\/weeks-prayer-doc\/rc_pc_chrstuni_doc_20150526_week-prayer-2016_en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Here you can find the texts <\/a>prepared by a mixed working group from Latvia, nominated by the Catholic Church and by the Ecumenical Council of Churches.  <strong>The Christian churches invite all to \u201cfind opportunities throughout the year in which to express the level of communion already accomplished and to pray together<\/strong> for the full unity which is the desire of Christ himself,\u201d according to Jesus\u2019 prayer to the Father: \u201cso that all may be one\u201d (Jn 17).  <strong>The Focolare Movement throughout the world is committed to fostering and supporting the various local events<\/strong> planned for the celebration of the week of prayer, through direct testimonies of ecumenical life among its members.
