He had more than once expressed his desire to join <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/chiara-lubich\/chi-e-chiara\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chiara Lubich<\/a> in Heaven. We rejoice with him and pray for him.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/news\/2014\/09\/15\/maria-voce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maria Voce<\/a> wrote these words to all the members of the Focolare Movement, while on a visit to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/focolare-worldwide\/africa\/kenya\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kenya <\/a>where she has been since May 14th.  <strong>Giorgio Fede Marchetti was born in Padua, Italy, on October 16, 1929<\/strong> where he was amongst the first people to become involved in the adventure of unity, as Chiara Lubich called it. But he also continued to accompany the growth and development of the Focolare around the world.  The director of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cittanuova.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Citt\u00e0 Nuova<\/a>, Michele Zanzucchi, writes: \u201cMany of us will remember his staunch loyalty to Chiara Lubich as he followed the path traced out by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/chiara-lubich\/spiritualita-dellunita\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">charism of unity <\/a>during the first months of the Focolare town of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loppiano.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Loppiano <\/a>in Tuscany, Italy, surrounded by mud but also genuine enthusiasm. He\u2019ll be remembered in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/focolare-worldwide\/america-sud\/brasile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brazil <\/a>where he came face to face with the hard reality of the shanty towns. We\u2019ll remember how he supported the Movement, always on the frontlines, always looking forward.\u201d  <strong>\u00c1ngel Bartol,<\/strong> who was with\u00a0him in his last moments: \u201cFede continued to give of himself, body and soul, to the very end.  <strong>He was a doctor, psychologist and theologian<\/strong> who had trained and accompanied hundreds of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/movimento-dei-focolari\/scelte-e-impegno\/focolarini\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">young men on the path of the focolarini<\/a>. Intelligence and generosity were his main traits.  Much more could be written about him, and much more will be in the coming days.  For now we simply say: <strong>Thank you, Fede, for your life that was centered on the unity of the human family!<\/strong>  A funeral will be held at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centromariapoli.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mariapolis Centre of Castelgandolfo <\/a>on Tuesday, June 1st at 11:00 am.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the first focolarini, Giorgio Fede Marchetti, passed away peacefully at the age of 86.
