The refurbishment of the huge, empty building started. Through the contribution of all the members of the Movement around the world (even children), the\u00a0 International Mariapolis Centre was inaugurated in 1986 and has since hosted thousands of conferences.  People from all over the world have attended congresses, symposiums, seminars and training courses, meetings for ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue.
