{"id":328746,"date":"2016-11-22T09:37:22","date_gmt":"2016-11-22T08:37:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/aletta-has-left-us\/"},"modified":"2024-05-16T15:05:45","modified_gmt":"2024-05-16T13:05:45","slug":"aletta-has-left-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/aletta-has-left-us\/","title":{"rendered":"Aletta has left us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-145432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/1995AlettaSalizzoni.jpg\" alt=\"1995AlettaSalizzoni\" width=\"164\" height=\"230\" \/><strong>&#8220;Let us accompany Aletta with joy and immense gratitude to the house of the Father.<\/strong> <strong>We couldn\u2019t have a better model <\/strong>of one who \u201cgave her life unsparingly\u201d to God, as today&#8217;s daily thought suggests.&#8221; This is how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/news\/2014\/09\/15\/maria-voce\/\">Maria Voce<\/a> informed the members of the Focolare Movement of the death of <strong>Vittoria Salizzoni<\/strong>, who passed away peacefully on the morning of 22 November, a few days before reaching the age of 92 years.  <strong>Vittoria Salizzoni<\/strong> was born in Martignano (Trent) on 27 November 1924. She was the third of 8 children born to Mary and David Salizzoni. She lived in France for 12 years where she had emigrated with her family. In 1941, she returned to Trento and on 7 January 1945, during World War II, she met <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/chiara-lubich\/chi-e-chiara\/\">Chiara Lubich<\/a>, and remained close to her for many years.  <div id=\"attachment_145325\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/aletta-11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-145325\" class=\"wp-image-145325\" src=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/aletta-11.jpg\" alt=\"aletta 1\" width=\"300\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-145325\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Aletta Salizzoni (right) with some of the first companions of Chiara Lubich<\/p><\/div>  <strong>Along with other members of the Focolare<\/strong>, Aletta spread the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/chiara-lubich\/spiritualita-dellunita\/\">\u201cideal of unity\u201d<\/a> throughout the Middle East, where today there are many communities who live the spirituality of unity through friendship and dialogue with those of other religions. Her long life was spent unsparingly for others.  Maria Voce, in her message, invited everyone to continue to put into practice the commandment of Jesus \u2013<a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/chiara-lubich\/spiritualita-dellunita\/gesu-in-mezzo\/\"> mutual love<\/a> \u2013 so that there can always be his spiritual presence in the midst of\u00a0 everyone, which brings about peace, something that Aletta so typically highlighted with her mere presence.
