{"id":328836,"date":"2017-01-07T04:11:08","date_gmt":"2017-01-07T03:11:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/solidarity-concert-in-austria-to-benefit-syria\/"},"modified":"2024-05-16T15:06:04","modified_gmt":"2024-05-16T13:06:04","slug":"solidarity-concert-in-austria-to-benefit-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/solidarity-concert-in-austria-to-benefit-syria\/","title":{"rendered":"Solidarity Concert in Austria to Benefit Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/vienna1.jpg\" alt=\"vienna1\" width=\"385\" height=\"258\" \/>An enriching evening of classical, dance, pop, contemplative, jazz, a musical and a buffet.<\/strong>  The fourth edition of the benefit concert was promoted by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.y4uw.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Focolare\u2019s Youth for a United World<\/a> in Vienna and by young people from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MOR-EFREM-S%C3%BCryani-Anaokulu-784414331610928\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mor Efrem<\/a> of the Syro-Orthodox community. Two hundred people showed up in spite of the freezing night temperatures of December, to support Syrian refugees.  <strong>The \u201cSinging Voices Choir\u201d<\/strong> comprised of young people that included some Spanish speakers wished everyone a \u201cFeliz Navidad\u201d with song and dance.  <strong>David Watzl presented <\/strong><em><strong>Aktion Weitblick<\/strong>, <\/em>a project that offers aid to refugees inside Europe and on its borders. He had spent two weeks at a refugee camp in Turkey where, with a group of volunteers from Aktion Weitblick, he organized afternoon games for children, classes in hygiene and many other activities.  <strong>The Ishtar Syrian Dance Group brought the concert<\/strong> to a close with lively eastern dance that got the whole audience moving. Afterwards, a tasty buffet provided an opportunity for actors, visitors and refugees to mingle and know one another, and to plan future projects.
