{"id":341542,"date":"2012-11-29T09:50:40","date_gmt":"2012-11-29T08:50:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/first-doctorate-at-sophia\/"},"modified":"2024-06-06T12:08:04","modified_gmt":"2024-06-06T10:08:04","slug":"first-doctorate-at-sophia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/first-doctorate-at-sophia\/","title":{"rendered":"First Doctorate at Sophia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/20121129-01.jpg\"><img alt=\"\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-75100 alignright\" style=\"margin-left: 10px;border: 0px none\" src=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/20121129-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"370\" height=\"185\" \/><\/a><strong><\/strong><em><\/em><strong>Paolo Frizzi, a history graduate from the University of Padua<\/strong>, has now become the first candidate to receive a doctorate degree at Sophia University Institute of Loppiano, in \u201cFoundations and perspectives of a culture of unity\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The topic is a demanding one: <em>\u201cChristianity and religions in the 1900\u2019s: The intuitions and the matter of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/it\/chiara-lubich\/\">Chiara Lubich<\/a>. History, Theology, Society\u201d<\/em>. The doctorate delves into the interreligious experience of the Focolare founder, offering an initial reading of what was brought about thanks to her charism of communion.<\/p>\n<p>The young academic institute of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/movimento-dei-focolari\/\">Focolare Movement<\/a> has not only offered a novel topic, but also a novel way of working which, faithful to the spirit of IUS, takes an <strong>interdisciplinary approach<\/strong>, linking theology, history and dialogue among the religions.<\/p>\n<p>These are the keys to understanding what the doctoral student who, like Chiara Lubich is from Trent, has used to examine a century of history and socio-political events, along with philosophical-theological reflection, tracking their internal relationships that Chiara and the Focolare with her, have established on the various continents with people of different faiths.<\/p>\n<p>Within these processes of transformation, the figure of Chiara Lubich emerges precisely as that of a prophet who is able to join spirituality, dialogue and thought. It is a proposal that is still to be discovered that the work of Frizzi has opened to further studies.<\/p>\n<p>And so IUS has its first doctor in \u201cfoundations and prospectives of a culture of unity\u201d. It is a milestone.
