{"id":342470,"date":"2013-11-03T06:00:42","date_gmt":"2013-11-03T05:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/jerusalem-the-mount-zion-award-2013\/"},"modified":"2024-06-06T12:10:50","modified_gmt":"2024-06-06T10:10:50","slug":"jerusalem-the-mount-zion-award-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/jerusalem-the-mount-zion-award-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Jerusalem: the Mount Zion Award 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div id=\"attachment_95560\" style=\"width: 279px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/20131103-01.jpg\"><img alt=\"\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-95560\" class=\" wp-image-95560\" style=\"margin-left: 10px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/20131103-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"269\" height=\"151\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-95560\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Margaret Karram (centre) and Yisca Harani (right).<\/p><\/div>  &nbsp;  <strong>The Mount Zion Award for reconciliation<\/strong> was founded in 1986 by <strong>Wilhelm Salberg<\/strong>, a Catholic priest from Essen, Germany. \u00a0The Award has been presented to individuals and institutions for their outstanding contribution towards the enhancement of dialogue\u00a0 between religions and cultures in the Holy Land and the mutual understanding between Jews, Christians and Muslims.  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/area-press-focus\/files\/2013\/10\/MZA-2013_invitation-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The 2013 edition <\/a>has been attributed<strong> to Margaret Karram,<\/strong> regional delegate of the Focolare Movement\u00a0 in the Holy Land, and to<strong> Yisca Harani<\/strong>, \u00a0an educator and government consultant on\u00a0 \u00a0relationships\u00a0 with Christians.  <strong>Margaret Karram<\/strong> was born \u00a0in Haifa (1962) in a Catholic family\u00a0 of Palestinian origin. She obtained a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Jewish Studies in the United States (University of Judaism, Lee College, Los Angeles). In 2001 she was appointed Delegate of the Focolare Movement in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. She is a member of the Episcopal Commission\u00a0 for Interreligious\u00a0 Dialogue, (Assembly of the Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land), and she also serves on the board of the Interreligious Coordinating Council in Israel (ICCI).  <strong>Yisca Harani<\/strong> was born in Jerusalem(1961) to a traditionally observant Jewish family. She studied at Tel Aviv University where she specialized in Christianity in the Holy Land with a particular interest in the Eastern Churches.\u00a0 She is an educator and consultant on Christian affairs in both the private and public sectors.
