A Focolare In Morro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img alt=\"\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-102044 alignright\" style=\"margin-left: 10px;margin-right: 10px;border: 0px none\" src=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Florianopolis-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"237\" height=\"189\" \/><strong>The focolarini from Florianopolis write<\/strong>: \u201cLast February 23, 2014 a simple ceremony was held in the presence of <strong>Archbishop <\/strong><strong><strong>Wilson Tadeu J\u00f6nck<\/strong><\/strong> and members of the local Focolare community, during which we officially transferred the men\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/movimento-dei-focolari\/scelte-e-impegno\/focolarini\/\">focolare <\/a>to the slum in <strong>Morro<\/strong>,<strong> favela Monte Serrat on the outskirts of the city.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor us who live the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/chiara-lubich\/spiritualita-dellunita\/\">charism of unity<\/a>,\u201d says <strong>Lucival Silva<\/strong>, \u201cwe feel the importance of being there to offer our contribution, along with those from the local Church who are already working in Morro, seeking to build bridges that unite the people of the city who are often separated by walls of indifference among the middle class, the rich and the poor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>There was joy in the eyes of the focolarini involved in this adventure,<\/strong> and in the local community of the Movement. It was like reliving a piece of the history of the Focolare when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/chiara-lubich\/\">Chiara Lubich<\/a> and the first group in Trent began by serving the poor, which led them to realise that \u201cevery person is a candidate for unity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-102045 alignleft\" style=\"margin-right: 10px;margin-top: 10px;margin-bottom: 10px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Florianopolis-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"243\" height=\"158\" \/><strong>Fath<\/strong><strong>er Vilson Groh<\/strong>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/movimento-dei-focolari\/scelte-e-impegno\/sacerdoti\/\">priest volunteer<\/a> from the Movement has been living and working on a network of projects in Morro for many years: public administration and the business world; <strong>projects that open young people to new opportunities in life.<\/strong> One of the focolarini named<strong> Francisco Sebo<\/strong><strong>k<\/strong> works with him in a project that helps young teenagers and young adults to get out of drug trafficking, in one city quarter that is dominated by drug traffickers. <strong>Fabrizio Lucisano<\/strong> has already been working for some time as a doctor at the health unity in Morro; and <strong>Keles Lima<\/strong> has begun to teach at a school for children. The team also includes <strong>Lucival Silva<\/strong>, <strong>Miguel Becker<\/strong> and <strong>Arion Goes<\/strong> both married focolarini who live with their families.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The house they are renting blends<\/strong> in with the surrounding dwellings and has that touch of harmony which is a characteristic of focolares. \u201cEveryone liked it,\u201d says Francisco; \u201cindeed, with just a few things we tried to arrange it with good taste. It has two rooms, a lounge, a kitchen and bathroom. The owners are building a second floor. In a few months it will also be rented so we can have a more reserved space for our small community and leave the downstairs for the use of the locals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-102046 alignright\" style=\"margin-left: 10px;margin-right: 10px;border: 0px none\" src=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Florianopolis-1-250x185.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"167\" \/><strong>Archbishop\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Wilson Tadeu J\u00f6nck<\/strong> blessed the new focolare and celebrated Mass in the local community chapel with Fr Vilson..\u00a0 The archbishop expressed his hope that \u201cthe life of the focolarini would continue to give witness to holiness because God is holy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Everyone felt the joy of walking with the Church today, which through Pope Francis \u201ccontinues to invite us to go out and meet humanity,\u201d <strong>Keles added<\/strong>, \u201cclose to the people especially those who are most poor and in need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are well aware that we will never resolve Brazil\u2019s social problem, not even of one city,\u201d <strong>Lucival explained<\/strong>, \u201cnot even of this favela; but this experience can be a sign from our Movement to the Church and to society, to say that we want to walk with everyone, rich and poor, in order to contribute to the realization of Jesus\u2019 testament: \u201cthat all may be one\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fabrizio recalled<\/strong>: \u201cIn 1993, Chiara Lubich had named the men\u2019s focolare in Florianopolis \u201c<strong>Emmaus<\/strong>\u201d and she wrote: \u2018Where Jesus was among the disciples. . . .
