Reactions vary: fear, resignation, anger, revenge. . .\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>But the witness we want to give speaks of peace: <\/strong>\u201cWe share the sufferings of the families of the many victims, trying to stay rooted in the present moment remembering that universal brotherhood is the only path to peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a providential coincidence that in the midst of this confusion, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/news\/2014\/04\/30\/al-via-la-settimana-mondo-unito-2014\/\">United World Week<\/a> was just about to begin.\u201d At this time every year\u00a0 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/movimento-dei-focolari\/un-popolo\/giovani-per-un-mondo-unito\/\">Young People for a United World <\/a>go public with visible activities that make as many people as possible think about peace and solidarity. This year they presented the World Atlas of Fraternity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friederike and George tell us that in Nigeria:<\/strong> \u201cYoung people and other members of the local Focolare community programmed several activities both in Onitsha, Abuja and Jos. But on the day after the second bombing, we met with the community of Abuja and discussed whether or not to continue with preparations for United World Week. We unanimously agreed that now more than ever was the time to live for peace and offer hope!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/SMU_Nigeria.jpg\"><img alt=\"\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-105846\" style=\"margin-left: 10px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/SMU_Nigeria.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"370\" height=\"208\" \/><\/a>On March 14, 2014, <strong>80 Muslims and Christians <\/strong>gathered in Millenium Park, Abuja, for a day focusing on \u201cWelcoming and Brotherhood\u201d. At noontime we paused for <em>Time Out: <\/em>a moment of prayer for peace.<\/p>\n<p>That same week in <strong>Onitsha <\/strong>young people held a work day in an orphanage, and another day cleaning the areas around the public market. They also invited everyone to attend the final day\u2019s events.<\/p>\n<p>They write: \u201cAll of us members of the Focolare are committed with renewed faith to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/news\/2012\/12\/28\/riparte-il-time-out-per-la-pace\/\">Time Out For Peace <\/a><em>; <\/em>we have a plan to send an SMS to each other at 11:55 every day. Every week we send an SMS to thousands of people from several areas of the country, with a slogan that invites us to live for peace.
