In Switzerland, an Ecumenical meeting promoted by the Focolare Movement

On the 50th anniversary of the opening of Vatican Council II, the Focolare Movement  promoted a one day ecumenical meeting in Berne, Switzerland.

The main speakers were Cardinal Kurt Koch, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Pastor Gottfried Locher, president of the Federation of Protestant Churches in Switzerland  and Maria Voce, president of the Focolare Movement.

Vatican Council II  introduced  new energy  into  the ecumenical movement, encouraging Christians of  different Churches to unite and discover themselves as brothers  and sisters.  The aim of this  meeting in Berne was to assess the progress made so far on the road to Ecumenism and to  discuss     future goals, amongst  which the need to give a new impulse to ecumenism  and   to evaluate the signs of hope present today and significant for the future.
