Kraków, Poland 26 – 31 July 2016

Giovani PoloniaPope Francis firmly believes that the Kraków World Youth Day 2016 will be one of the strongest moments of this Holy Year of Mercy, a real Jubilee for youth from all over the world. The theme chosen for 31st WYD is “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Mt 5,7).

In his message for this occasion, the Pope invites the young people to let themselves be touched by mercy, experience it personally and then give it to others.

The young members of the Focolare Movement in Poland, together with others arriving there from other countries, will offer their share towards WYD through the Youth Festival and the Centre for Vocations. In the Youth Festival programme entrusted to them, one part will include games, dances and songs to enable the youth to get to know one another; the other part will consist of reflection and prayer, witnesses on the works of mercy, writings of Chiara Lubich and animation by the Gen Rosso. Inspired by the WYD theme, the Polish Youth chose the motto: “Let us weave the net of Mercy” and welcome others to join in and be part of this net. They will also be at the Centre for Vocations to present the typical initiatives of the Focolare Movement.

550 young people from different parts of the world will participate in the post WYD International School  held at Slovakia (Jasná – Demänovská Dolina) from July 31 to August 5. The participants, among them 50 Orthodox youth, will have the opportunity to discuss and deepen their knowledge  on themes dealt with during the WYD.
