The North American University Notre Dame will be conferring an honorary doctoral degree in Law to Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, and to Maria Voce, president  of the Focolare Movement. The ceremony will take place on January 27, 2014 at the Notre Dame’s new centre in Rome, near the Colosseum.

The president of the University, Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C. said: “Through their determination and good works, our honorees personify the fact that God’s love knows no barriers”.

This honorary degree is being awarded to Maria Voce in recognition of, among other things, “her extraordinary leadership in the Focolare Movement, together with the great testimony and inspiration the Movement gives. Her commitment to promote unity, especially through dialogue and friendship is a true balm for the wounds of a shattered world”.
