A permanent school for families with the scope of deepening in the spirituality of unity and subjects relative to the family. It was founded in 1982 by Chiara Lubich, with the desire that through this school families could relive “the experience of the family of Nazareth, with Jesus always in their midst in order to give joy to many others. The inter-nationality and “full-time” immersion in the life of the Focolare’s little town in Loppiano (Florence), governed according to the evangelic spirit of universal brotherhood, make it a unique experience of growth and exchange among cultures.

The course begins in September and ends in June.  Families coming from all over the world, housed for their privacy in one-family lodgings, spend together  times of formation and moments of work, study and various activities.  At the same time their children attend the public schools on the territory.

In order to participate in the Loreto School the families must often overcome various obstacles, which go from economic, work, language, red tape regarding visas, etc…, but going back home they take with them a new store of enthusiasm for witnessing that the family can contribute to the fulfilment of universal brotherhood and be a resource for renewal of the social tissue.  The couples, together with their children and with the entire network of families that live the spirituality of unity, become carriers of new responsibility and hope that humanity can become more and more one family.
