Another amazing “link up”, the Focolare international news video call from 15th March: live greetings from Mexico, Turkey, Norway and many other places, all coming together in one big family. There was a heartfelt mix of testimonies, sharing the suffering of those affected by the floods in Bahia Blanca, news of a special multimedia exhibition dedicated to Chiara Lubich which has just opened in the Focolare Meeting Point in Rome, inspiring stories of community care—from looking after neighbours in Pescara to sharing experiences during Ramadan in Algeria and more from Thailand and Argentina.
One part that really stood out was the incredible journey of members from the Centre of the Movement to Africa. The recording takes you through inspiring experiences from countries like Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi. We heard how local communities are overcoming challenges and healing historical wounds through solidarity, dialogue, and a shared commitment to unity. Their stories show the power of cultural integration and the strength that comes from community spirit—reminding us that when we care for each other, even the toughest obstacles can be overcome.
At the heart of it all is the beautiful spiritual thought of Chiara Lubich. Her message, “the other is another you,” really shines through, encouraging us to see everyone as a reflection of ourselves and to act with compassion and love. It’s a powerful reminder that our actions, no matter how small, can make a big difference in building bridges between cultures and healing communities.
