‘Baby Jesus’ generates funds for rehabilitation of Typhoon Haiyan survivors

Children of Focolare raise €800 in Dungarvan through donations for 'Baby Jesus' . The children offered the hand made plaster cast figures of the infant Jesus lying on straw in a small basket, along with a message to people to "bring Jesus home for Christmas" to the public at a busy shopping centre in Dungarvan on 13th December.

Baby JesusThe town people were very aware and supportive of the action because of the great work carried out by Audrey Hallahan and a team of volunteers who managed to fill two container loads of material to send to the victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan in January 2013 (see https://www.focolare.org/ireland/news/2014/02/14/from-ireland-with-love-to-the-philippines/)

A young lady commented, “I’ve just lost a baby and this Baby Jesus brings me so close to the meaning of Christmas, which is love.”

“It’s lovely to be able to hold Baby Jesus in your hand, as normally you just look at it in the crib,” commented another man.

“This will be my first Christmas without my husband,” a woman confided, “and I’m going to place this Baby Jesus on his grave.”

Many people expressed their thanks for this project, “It’s a lovely way to get the message across and bring Jesus back into Christmas.”
