Benedict XVI has nominated Maria Voce as consultant of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, the only woman among the 15 new consultants.

The news arrived on the 7th of december, the day in which members of the Focolare Movement comemorate its birth, 68 years ago in Trent, with Chiara Lubich’s consecration to God.

This news has given me a great joy and it is an honour , due to the trust that the Pope and the Pontifical Council has shown me. This appointment commits me to seeing to it that my life and the life of all those who are linked to me and to the Focolare Movement is evangelized and therefore also evangelizing”. This is what Maria Voce said upon receiving the news. She continued: “I am aware that many will never have the chance to read the Gospel if not through our life”.

Last 20th of october, in a declaration in response to the announcement of the Year of Faith as called for by the Pope, Maria Voce reaffirmed the committment of the Movement in “bringing back the radicality of the beginnings of the Movement, re-evangelizing ourselves first of all, so as to radiate the Gospel, with its transforming power, on humanity and all that surrounds it”.
