Brazil: Swap hunger for a flower

Nov 11, 2021

On 8 May 2021 at a traffic light in the city of Porto Alegre (Brazil), Lorenzo, aged 24, and his mother, Themis, saw a poor man with a sign: "I'm hungry, help me". This is how the project "Troque-a-fome-por-flor" (Swap hunger for a flower) began. The result is a network of florists and volunteers that now employs more than 70 people and is also spreading to other cities in Brazil.
