Alongside the author Lucia Coco and the publisher Luca Gentile were Dr. Giusi Scopacasa, psychologist and psychotherapist, who introduced the event by saying: “The Chamber of Deputies is the place where the common good is discussed, where the laws governing civil coexistence and the collective life of a country are shaped, and today in this institutional setting we pause to reflect on something deeply intimate: the inner life of relationships, the heart of human bonds. Perhaps this is no coincidence, because a society is healthy insofar as its relationships are healthy, and the quality of public life depends on the quality of the emotional and relational life of the people who make it up.”
Also noteworthy was the speech by Roberto Almada, Co-President of the Movimento dei Focolari, who wrote the preface to the book and stated among other things: “This is one of the book’s most precious messages: helping couples not only rediscover communication techniques, but also the possibility of feeling reached, seen and protected within the relationship, because every human being, even after many years of loving, still continues deep down to ask: ‘Are you really there for me?’”
The event was also attended by the leaders of the International Secretariat of Famiglie Nuove and by Argia Valeria Albanese, president of the Political Movement for Unity. During the event, participants spoke about Famiglie Nuove of the Focolare Movement and the “Paths of Light” project for couples in difficulty. The prestigious setting of the Chamber of Deputies gave the event a solemn atmosphere. The meeting concluded with the author answering questions from the audience.
