On 4th November, 2024, the Centro Evangelii Gaudium at Sofia University, in collaboration with the Synod Secretariat, hosted a thought-provoking webinar to provide updates on the Church’s synodal journey. This gathering marked the start of the 2024/2025 Synodality Course, highlighting reflections from some main protagonists including Cardinal Mario Grech, Sr. Nathalie Becquart, and Margaret Karram.

The event emphasized the importance of inclusivity, spiritual discernment, and intercultural dialogue, with speakers underscoring the Church’s mission to foster unity amid diversity. Margaret Karram shared moving personal insights into the power of “conversation in the Spirit,” while Cardinal Grech reflected on the Church’s evolving journey as a community “called to walk together.”

At last Sunday’s Focolare community meeting, we saw how Margaret Karram’s words at the Genfest 2024 are being put into action right here in Ireland. She encouraged everyone to return to their countries and find ways to engage through their passions, studies, or professions—whether in economics, peace, intercultural dialogue, health, or politics. She said that the participants of the Genfest had experienced the power of living in true “comm-UNITY” and that this experience would continue and be like a training ground, where we can continue practicing fraternity and build “cells of unity”.
