Gary, Indiana, one of the poorest cities in the US, hosted 100 teenagers from 6 states who organized activities with the homeless, to serve at a soup kitchen/canteen and work on urban renewal. For many of them it was an unforgettable experience, which opened their eyes not only to the needs but also the beauty of the town, which is, before all else, a community.

It is called “Project Lia”, it started in Indianapolis (USA) and it teaches formerly incarcerated women how to turn waste material into furniture and home accessories. In doing so, the project aims to reduce recidivism, by opening new paths to social inclusion.

The eleventh edition of the Genfest has just come to its end. The 6,000 young people present, from more than 100 countries worldwide, launched their project: “Pathways Pathways for a United World”: ways and means of bringing individuals and people together to contribute building fraternal relationships in the fields of economy, justice, politics, environment, intercultural and interreligious dialogue.
