A woman of dauntless faith, a meek messenger of hope and peace” – this is how Pope Benedict XVI described Chiara Lubich in his message at her funeral eight years ago. In January 2015, on the occasion of the official opening of the cause of her beatification, Pope Francis urged “to make known to the people of God the life and work of one who welcomed Our Lord’s invitation and enkindled a new light for the church on the journey towards unity”.

The various events commemorating her passing away on March14, 2008, confirm the gradual fulfillment of her dream: “to see universal brotherhood established gradually, or possibly even hurriedly, in the world”.

The events of March 14, 2016 make sense because they aim at converging the efforts and prayers of many people, in many places on earth, to make the world become more united.

Meanwhile, the cause of the beatification of Chiara Lubich, which began on January 27, 2015 is following the required process. Witness has already been offered by persons who are members of different Churches and by others who have no particular religious conviction. A mosaic of testimonies highlight her exemplary life, a commitment shared with all those whom God placed in her path to “become saints together”.

Paths to rediscover dialogue

A meeting for separated persons living a new union will take place at Castelgandolfo, Rome

26-28 February, 2016

Per Focus FamiglieThis meeting is being organized by the New Families of the Focolare Movement, and it will continue the initiative launched in 2008, when a hundred couples living in this situation and coming from various European countries, gathered at Castelgandolfo for the first time.

The problems at the origin of a conjugal separation are often the cause of concern and research, especially for those who believe and are commited to Christian living. Having the opportunity to share deeply with others their situation in a new conjugal union, very often proves decisive in fulfilling the plan for the life of these families.

This and more will be addressed during the conference at Castelgandolfo, which will concentrate on the theme “Regenerated by love”, through the contributions of Rita Della Valle (gynecologist, sexologist, couple therapist)and of Salvatore Ventriglia (doctor, neurologist, psychotherapist, clinical translational analyist, supervisor and lecturer, president of Logos Centre), with the approach of “paths to rediscover dialogue”.

Fr. Paolo Gentili, director of the National Office of the Italian Episcopal Conference for the Pastoral Care of the Families will deliver a talk about mercy in the magisterium of Pope Francis and he will answer questions about situations that separated persons in a new union are living in ecclesial communities today. Fr. Natale Monza, who is responsible for ACOR in the pastoral zone of Varese, in the Diocese of Milan (Italy) will also participate.

The programme will include an exhibition of the recent works on “God Mercy” of the French artist Michel Pochet, who will also paricipate.

This meeting will be taking place just before the publication of Pope Francis’ post -synodal apostolic exhortation on the family, the much-awaited document after the last two sessions of the Synod of Bishops on this theme.
