Luciana Scalacci, witness of dialogue

Luciana Scalacci, who passed away last March, embodied a deep social and political commitment, a profound faith in humanity and its potential, and a passion for dialogue. Together with her husband, Nicola, she made an enormous and invaluable contribution to fostering dialogue within the Focolare Movement, especially with, and among, people of non-religious convictions, through her dedication, generosity, and intelligence.

2025 is full of significant anniversaries for ecumenism – from the Jubilee of Hope announced by the Catholic Church to the celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea and the 60th anniversary of the abolition of the mutual excommunications that had previously existed between the Church of Rome and the Orthodox Church of Constantinople. The Focolare Movement is taking the opportunity to celebrate these anniversaries with an international ecumenical conference from 26 to 29 March.
