A culture of peace for the unity of peoples

“We must believe, therefore, that we are loved by God so that we can throw ourselves with greater faith into the adventure of love and work together with him for a New Humanity.” This was affirmed by Chiara Lubich, foundress of the Focolare Movement, during an International Conference at Castel Gandolfo (Rome – Italy) on the 11th of June 1988.

On 7 December 1943, as the rain and wind raged, Chiara Lubich went to the Capuchin Church in Trent, Italy, to consecrate herself to God forever, alone, she and the priest who accompanied her as her spiritual father. She would marry God. But with this act she would also begin a new path. Let us read and listen to the words with which Chiara Lubich herself recalled that day.
