Gesù aveva presenti anche tutti noi che avremmo dovuto vivere in mezzo alla vita complessa di ogni giorno. Perché Amore incarnato, avrà pensato: io vorrei essere sempre con gli uomini, vorrei dividere con loro ogni preoccupazione, vorrei consigliarli, vorrei camminare con loro per le strade, entrare nelle case, ravvivare con la mia presenza la loro gioia. Per questo ha voluto rimanere con noi e farci sentire la sua vicinanza, la sua forza, il suo amore. Il Vangelo di Luca racconta che dopo averlo visto ascendere al Cielo, i discepoli “tornarono a Gerusalemme con grande gioia” (Lc 24,52). Come poteva essere? Avevano sperimentato la realtà di quelle sue parole. Anche noi saremo pieni di gioia se crediamo veramente alla promessa di Gesù: “Ecco, io sono con voi tutti i giorni, fino alla fine del mondo” Queste parole, le ultime che Gesù rivolge ai discepoli, segnano la fine della sua vita terrena e, nello stesso tempo, l’inizio della vita della Chiesa, nella quale è presente in tanti modi: nell’Eucaristia, nella sua Parola, nei suoi ministri (i vescovi, i sacerdoti), nei poveri, nei piccoli, negli emarginati…, in tutti i prossimi. A noi piace sottolineare una presenza particolare di Gesù, quella che lui stesso, sempre nel Vangelo di Matteo, ci ha indicato: “Dove sono due o tre riuniti nel mio nome, io sono in mezzo a loro” (cf Mt 18,20). Mediante questa presenza egli vuole potersi stabilire in ogni luogo. Se viviamo quanto lui comanda, specialmente il suo comandamento nuovo, possiamo sperimentare questa sua presenza anche fuori delle chiese, in mezzo alla gente, nei posti in cui essa vive, ovunque. Quello che ci è chiesto è quell’amore vicendevole, di servizio, di comprensione, di partecipazione ai dolori, alle ansie e alle gioie dei nostri fratelli; quell’amore che tutto copre, che tutto perdona, tipico del cristianesimo. Viviamo così, perché tutti abbiano la possibilità di incontrarsi con Lui già su questa terra.
